Men, honor your wives as your co-heir to the God’s kingdom! This isn’t advice, this is a command. If you are expecting God to answer your prayers, you need to honor your wife!
Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
1 Peter 3:7As men, we expect our wives to submit and we are quick to point out scripture. However, we fail to read the entire context and we hinder God by our own disobedience. We steal away our women’s uniqueness by not respecting them and treating them with the right kind of love. We lust for them and then our behavior does not demonstrate that of a protector. We think standing up to fight is protecting our wives. There is so much more than this. As this verse expresses, we are to HONOR them as the weaker vessel. This means being a true heir to the glory of God with our wives. Our wives are our co-heirs to the Kingdom. We are partners, women are to be loved, adored, treasured as God’s creation. If you want your prayers to be fulfilled, do not limit God by dishonoring your wife. Honor your wife by treating her with respect. Honor her by being her priest, shepherd and her king. If you will honor her, she will honor you. She will respect you and she will naturally submit through her trust in you. Love your wife and honor God’s gift to you as a husband. God brought this glorious creation to you for you to honor and protect. As Jesus loves, we should love all others. Honor your wife and respect her. Be the man God created you to be and she will respect and submit to your leadership. You are called to be the spiritual leader of your home, so be the leader. Be the man. Do not be irresponsible, immature and childish. Your wife doesn’t want to be your mother and you didn’t plan to marry your mom either. Do not abdicate your role! Women are not designed to be as men, but as the beautiful creation they were designed to be as women. Women truly want to embrace their role as women, but all too often we do not act like men and we force them to step into that role. For you to truly be the man God created you to be, you must be a Maximized Man. Manhood and Christlikeness are synonymous!
