Forgiveness is a gift sweeter than honey. What could be better than forgiveness?
Deliverance….

God gives love unconditionally. He loves us all no matter our choices or how many mistakes we make. He is faithful and never gives up on us. We are offered forgiveness if we choose it. Jesus died for us on the cross and then arose victorious over death. Jesus overcame the finality of death. Through Christ, we too can overcome and be victorious over death.

I want to challenge you to think beyond forgiveness. After you accept Christ as your Lord and savior, what comes next?

I am sure most of you know the adage of “It is easier to ask forgiveness than permission…” In business, men often use this phrase to justify going around the norm or outside policies. As men of flesh, we use this phrase to justify our sins.

What if instead of constantly living a life of sin, repent, sin, repent, we could be delivered? What if instead, we sin, repent, learn, move on. What if instead of forgiveness we seek deliverance?

Jesus tells us ” Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all of these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
If we seek Him first we are transforming ourselves through the renewal of our minds (Romans 12:2).

We are replacing our sinful nature with the presence and wisdom only God can provide when we read God’s Word.

Jesus says
“For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:30

He wants us to see that the joy of deliverance is better than the sorrow of sin. Before we ask forgiveness we feel guilt for the sin and then we seek reconciliation so that we may be restored to God.

If you renew your mind and allow God to transform you, you will gain rule over your spirit through God’s grace. This is the joy God desires for YOU!

Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spiritthan he who takes a city.
Proverbs 16:32

This is much more than being slow to anger. This is about being victorious and living a life of freedom in Christ Jesus.

I want to encourage you to live beyond the gift of forgiveness. Be empowered by deliverance. Be in God’s Word every day. Let God change you. Let him renew your mind and transform you. Let God give you the wisdom and power to rule YOUR spirit! Be victorious over temptation and sin, thank God for deliverance from temptation rather than sin first and ask Him for forgiveness after.
